Aga Khan Centre opens to the public as part of Open House London 2019

Saturday 21 September will see the public opening of the Aga Khan Centre – the first building in London designed by renowned Japanese firm, Maki & Associates led by Fumihiko Maki. Tours of the building, including the gardens, will be available during the following times on a first-come, first-served basis:

  • Saturday 21 September between 12.00pm and 5.00pm (Last tour at 4.15pm)

Tours are accessible for all and open to all ages. Children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult during the tour.

The Aga Khan Centre accommodates multiple green spaces made up of gardens, terraces and courtyards, which all connect to key parts of building. The design of the building and its landscaped spaces reflect values inspired by Islam – openness, dialogue and respect for pluralism. The building is the third by Maki & Associates for His Highness the Aga Khan, joining the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat, Ottawa and the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto. The Aga Khan Centre was inaugurated by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales at an inauguration ceremony hosted by His Highness the Aga Khan on 26 June 2018.

Open House London is the world’s largest architecture festival, giving free public access to 800+ buildings, walks, talks and tours over one weekend in September each year.
