New Seasonal Tours Programme
We have been busy developing a new Tours Programme. The pandemic gave us time to evaluate the past programme, think about what we wanted to deliver and how best to achieve this. Our new Tours Programme will follow the seasons and each season will focus on a specific theme, garden, and architectural feature in the building. We will have short breaks between the seasons . The programme dates are:
- Spring Programme: 26 March – 21 June 2022: New Life – focus on Garden of Life
- Summer Programme: 2 July – 24 September 2022: Colours of Summer – focus on Jellico & Garden of Life
- Autumn Programme: 1 October– 10 December 2022: Light & Shade – focus on Architectural features
- Winter Programme: 14 January – 11 March 2023: Geometry & Pattern – focus on Gardens of Tranquillity & Light
We will offer public tours on specific days and times during the week, which will be bookable via this page and are free of charge. Alongside standard tours we are programming creative activity tours which include half day workshop inspired by the season’s theme. There will be two a month advertised on the Events page of this website. Advance booking for all tour activity is essential. We cannot accept walk-ins.
Booking for the Spring Tours Programme is now live – see link below.
If you are unable to attend your booked tour, please let us know. Our programme is in high demand and your place could be filled if you notify us.
At present, we have selected dates advertised between March – June. Please see this page for updates.
Thank you for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you to Aga Khan Centre soon.
AKC Tours – Volunteer Tour Guides Needed…
We are seeking volunteer tour guides to help facilitate our new seasonal Tours Programme.
Are you interested in working with us to welcome visitors to our building and gardens, through structured tours that will engage and inspire a broad audience?
Volunteering for the Aga Khan Centre is rewarding, sociable and fun – and it is a hugely valuable way to support our activities. We rely on our volunteers to conduct 40 minutes to an hour tour on specified days and times, as well as help stage other bespoke events throughout the year. All our programmes aim to raise greater awareness of the work of the three institutes at Aga Khan Centre and the wider Aga Khan Development Network.
What unites our volunteers is a passion for our unique building, Islamic Gardens, Aga Khan Development Network, Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilizations, Aga Khan Foundation UK, and Institute of Ismaili Studies in the heart of the city of London, as well as a desire to work together to increase understanding and concern for the work we deliver.
Thank you for considering us as an organisation you wish to volunteer for. We warmly welcome you to apply by sending your expression of interest to the ‘contact us’ email address below. We look forward to welcoming you to becoming an AKC Tour Guide soon.
AKC Tours – Artists, Artisans, Poets, Writers, Musicians, Crafters Needed…
We are seeking artists, makers, artisans, and other arts, cultural, academic, heritage, recreational, horticultural and architectural professionals to help shape the more creative content for our new Tours Programme. Do you have a passion for sharing your knowledge, skills, and talents? Have you the experience, confidence, and ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences? Then we would love to hear from you. We are looking to create an inspirational and engaging creative tours programme that will run alongside the standard tours. If you wish to participate, then send your expression of interest to: email@example.com
