Visiting the Aga Khan Centre

Our beautiful building is not just a space of learning and research, but also an opportunity for members of the public to appreciate Islamic gardens, designs, and art in the heart of London.

We offer public tours on specific days and times during the week, which are bookable via this page and are free of charge.

POLITE NOTICE: Attendance for tours must be booked in advance. If you have not made a booking, you are able to come to the building during opening hours and view exhibitions in the gallery, but will not be able to see other parts of the building.

Tours are roughly one hour long, and are led by a team of knowledgeable volunteers. They are aimed at guests aged 8 and over, and we ask that any younger children be kept under close supervision. The building is fully wheelchair accessible and a wheelchair is available onsite for those less able to stand. Families bringing prams and buggies may be asked to leave them at reception.

Please use the calendar below to sign up for a tour. If you have a group of 8 or more, or are in London for a short period of time in which tours are currently fully booked, please contact us on enquiries@agakhancentre.org.uk and will try our best to accommodate you.

Our calendar is currently showing availability until the end of January 2025.  To be the first to hear when further dates are released, please sign up to our mailing list.

Our tours are in extremely high demand, so if you are no longer able to attend please cancel your booking with Eventbrite or contact us at enquiries@agakhancentre.org.uk and we can process the cancellation to open up spaces for others who would like to visit.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

AKC Tours – Volunteer Tour Guides Needed

We are seeking volunteer tour guides to help facilitate our new seasonal Tours Programme.

Are you interested in working with us to welcome visitors to our building and gardens, through structured tours that will engage and inspire a broad audience?

Volunteering for the Aga Khan Centre is rewarding, sociable and fun – and it is a hugely valuable way to support our activities. We rely on our volunteers to conduct 45 minutes to an hour tour on specified days and times, as well as help stage other bespoke events throughout the year. All our programmes aim to raise greater awareness of the work of the three institutes at Aga Khan Centre and the wider Aga Khan Development Network.

What unites our volunteers is a passion for our unique building, Islamic Gardens, Aga Khan Development Network, Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilizations, Aga Khan Foundation UK, and Institute of Ismaili Studies in the heart of the city of London, as well as a desire to work together to increase understanding and concern for the work we deliver. To help support your volunteer work with us, we will cover your travel and sustenance costs during your time at the centre.

Thank you for considering us as an organisation you wish to volunteer for. We warmly welcome you to apply by sending your expression of interest to the ‘contact us’ email address below.  We look forward to welcoming you to becoming an AKC Tour Guide soon.
